Flattop Griddle Cleaning in Jacksonville
Flattop griddles are having a moment on First Coast patios — built-in flattops, teppanyaki inserts, and hibachi-style cooktops are everywhere. (Got a Blackstone cart or tabletop unit? We have a dedicated Blackstone cleaning & restoration service for those.) They’re also the easiest outdoor appliance to ruin. A griddle isn’t stainless like a grill grate; it’s bare carbon steel that depends entirely on its seasoning — the baked-on layer of polymerized oil that makes it non-stick and rust-proof. Florida humidity and salt air attack that layer year-round, and one season of neglect leaves a top that’s orange with rust or gummy with half-burned grease.
The good news: a rusty, sticky, or flaking griddle is almost always recoverable. Steel is forgiving — it just needs to be taken back to clean metal and re-seasoned properly.
What a full griddle service includes
- Strip. The cooktop is degreased and stripped of gummed-up oil, carbon flakes, and food residue — the stuff that makes everything stick and taste off.
- Rust removal. Surface rust is mechanically and chemically removed down to clean, sound steel. We’ll tell you honestly if pitting has gone deeper than a restoration can fix.
- Re-seasoning. The top is re-seasoned the right way: thin coats of high-smoke-point oil, each one brought fully up to temperature, built up in layers until the surface is uniformly black, slick, and non-stick.
- The rest of the unit. Grease trough and drip system cleaned out, burners and igniters checked for even heat, exterior and shelving cleaned up.
- Care routine. A simple after-every-cook routine — scrape, wipe, thin film of oil — that keeps the seasoning strong between our visits.
Griddles are quoted per job
Griddle condition varies more than any appliance we service — a lightly-used top that needs a refresh is a very different job from a rusted-out cooktop that needs full restoration. So we start with our free 24-point inspection, look at the actual surface, and give you a firm price before any work begins. The number we quote is the number you pay.
Already booking a grill cleaning? Adding the griddle to the same visit is the most cost-effective way to do it — we’re on site, the equipment is hot, and your whole outdoor kitchen gets done in one appointment.
